Bristol City are eyeing up a summer move for Hearts star Callum Paterson according to the Daily Record. Robins boss Lee Johnson was seen at Pittodrie, the home of Aberdeen, on Thursday to see the player in action for the Jambos.
The highly-rated full back is understood to have been watched on more than one occasions by Bristol City. With the playing only having a year left on his deal, the club could elect to cash in on the player now.
Johnson, who has been at the helm at Ashton Gate since his appointment in February, had a brief tint with the Scottish club during his playing days. He is hopeful of added the talent to his Bristol City squad this summer, ahead of a proposed much-improved showing in the Championship.
Paterson has been called-up for the Scotland national team for their end of season friendlies against European Championships participants Italy and France in the next few weeks. He has yet to earn a cap for Gordon Strachan’s team, but has been call-up before, for the friendly against England at Celtic Park in 2014.
Hearts boss Robbie Neilson is understood to be planning for life without the star in his squad and is already focusing his attentions on a replacement this summer as well.
Paterson has appeared well over 100 times for the club since making his professional debut in 2012 at the age of just 17. He has also appeared for Scotland at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 levels. He has also demonstrated his versatility by playing as a striker at selective points as well.
