Swindon Town are the latest club to reveal their retained list following the completion of their Sky Bet League One campaign. It has certainly been an eventful season for the football club and they’ll be hoping for some stability going into the new campaign.
Luke Williams has decided to hand out new contracts to seven individuals, joining the nine players already under contract. A further six players have been allowed to depart the County Ground.
The following players have signed new contracts:
Yaser Kasim – one-year
Jonathan Obika – one-year
Bradley Barry – one-year
Ellis Iandolo – one-year
Michael Smith- one-year
James Brophy – two-year
Jamie Sendles-White – one-year
That means Kasim continues his long association with the Wilshire club. Obika ended the season as the top scorer with the club, so the fans will be delighted that the club invoked a clause to extend his stay. Barry started 35 League One games this season, so he will be looking forward to another action-packed season. Midfielder Brophy enjoyed a fine breakthrough season, so much so he was handed a two-year contract.
The following players have been released:
Jeremy Balmy, Jamie Calvin, Josh Cooke, Lee Marshall, Fabien Robert, Drissa Traore.
The majority of those struggled for regular first-team football with the club this season. Robert did actually start half of their league games and also made a further 12 appearances as a substitute too. Traore made appearances in 24 League One games, but the ex-Notts County man has been allowed to move on.
The following players remain under contract for next season:
Tyrell Belford, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Anton Rodgers, Jordan Stewart, Nicky Ajose, Jermaine Hylton, Raphael Rossi-Branco, Nathan Thompson, Jake Evans.
