Blackburn identify Stubbs as potential candidate

Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs is one of the names under serious consideration to be the next Blackburn Rovers manager according to the Lancashire Telegraph. Local rivals Bolton Wanderers have also been rumoured to be eyeing up a move for the ex-Everton defender.

Stubbs is currently taking place in a play-off campaign with Hibs in the hope of joining Celtic and Rangers in the top flight of Scottish football once again. However there appears to be the possibility he may be heading back to England.

The man himself has been keen to play down any speculation surrounding his future, insisting that he is only focused on all things Hibs at this moment in time,

“There is only one thing on my mind right now and that is trying to achieve a great end to the season for the football club.

“And nothing will deter me or make me lose concentration. It is as simple as that. I’ve got a job to do and I want to be successful.

“If you’re doing well, you get linked with jobs. If you are not doing well, you don’t get linked with jobs.

“Some people might beg to differ but it’s speculation. That’s all.”

Coaches Alan Irvine, Rob Kelly and Laurence Batty are all wanted to stay on in their respective roles and link up with the next manager it is understood. The club have supposedly held talks with the trio to see who and what type of manager they think the club should be focusing their attentions on.

No decision on Stubbs’ future will be revealed until the season is over. They also have a cup final against Rangers to look forward to, so Blackburn won’t get any decision, or even Bolton for that matter, for a few more weeks yet. This could lead to them looking elsewhere.

Lee Carsley has ruled himself out of becoming the next Blackburn Rovers manager, but Rochdale boss Keith Hill is said to be another name being strongly mentioned to the vacancy as well.
