Retained List: 4 experienced pros to leave Preston

Overall it has been a very positive Championship campaign for Preston North End, who achieved a top half finish in their first season since promotion back to this level last season. Simon Grayson has now revealed his retained list.

Whilst youngsters Jack Ryan, Nick Anderton and Josh Heaton have all been allowed to leave, it is the other four more experienced players that North End fans will be more interested in.

Ex-Leeds United man Neil Kilkenny has departed Deepdale following a two-and-a-half year stint with the Lancashire club. He almost made 100 appearances for the Lilywhites, but has struggled for regular football this season. He is joined by Chris Kirkland, who has mainly played second fiddle for several other first-choice keepers this season. He started the final three games, but won’t be offered a new deal.

The final two to leave are winger Kyel Reid and forward Andy Little. Both are currently out on loan with Bradford City and Accrington Stanley respectively, who both finished in the play-off positions. Neither will be part of Grayson’s plans for next season and are allowed to leave.

Josh Brownhill has been offered a new-year extended contract to remain with the club. He also ended the season out on loan at Barnsley, and he too will take part in a play-off campaign. The player has yet to respond to this offer, and is unlikely to do so until the play-offs are over.

Loan players Anders Lindegaard, Marnick Vermijl, Eoin Doyle, Callum Robinson and Adam Reach all return to their parent clubs after their loan deals all concluded.
