Nottingham Forest linked with a move for Wigan striker

Championship side Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Wigan Athletic striker Will Grigg, according to the Nottingham Post.

Forest are already looking to improve their team for next season and have reportedly earmarked Grigg as a possible addition.

The 24-year-old fired Wigan to League One champions with 25 goals in 40 league appearances, also helping out with a further five assists.

Grigg also has international honours for Northern Ireland, having made seven appearances since making his debut in 2012. The forward will be hoping his good form can earn him a spot in Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 squad.

The Nottingham Post also quotes Wigan boss Gary Caldwell as saying “for me, he’s got to go,” about Grigg’s Euro chances.

“If Northern Ireland have got better strikers than him then I’d like to see them because he is somebody that I believe can be a real asset for them at the Euros this summer.”

Forward Britt Assombalonga is set to return from injury and be fit for the new campaign. Forest also have had their transfer embargo lifted, meaning that they are free to recruit players and push on from last season’s 16th place finish in the Sky Bet Championship.
