Former England midfielder to play for Coventry again

Former England and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole will play for Coventry City again, according to The Sun.

Cole has been released by Coventry this summer after declining to extend his contract with the League One club.  The midfielder will instead travel to Florida to play for Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Cole scored two goals in 23 games whilst at Coventry, and had a lot of good things to say about the club: “They have finally got a team to be proud of.

“They do need success but I do feel this season was a real push forward.”

However Cole doesn’t feel that he has left the club forever, and has hinted that he will play in England again.

He said: “Who’s to say that’s the end of the story? When I come back for those three, four months, Coventry will be at the top of my list.”

The midfielder was making reference to the mid-season break in the MLS, during which time the English season will be in full swing.

Coventry City fans took to Joe Cole during his stint at their club, and he would most likely be welcomed back with open arms next season.  This could be to help push Coventry even closer to the play-off places that they came so close to this term.
