Son of Leeds United owner explains earlier post

A father seen by many as a tyrant, a brother recently fined for abusing spectators via social media messages – you wouldn’t want to be Ercole Cellino.

However, as reported earlier today, the ‘other’ son of Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is in hot water over the following Instagram post.

Alternative lunch break…. Yes I did… Welcome to Calabria 😱😜💪🏻#gestapo#ss#army#military#guerilla#warrior

The understandable backlash that followed centred around the #gestapo #ss hashtags used at the end of the photo as searchable ‘tags’. People were quick to jump on Cellino and point out the insensitivity of his ‘hashtags’ and the hurt and upset that they cause, with others also quick to condemn the futher blackening of the Leeds United brand and sullying of the name of the club.

However, as tweeted by the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay, Ercole Cellino has put forward reasoning as to what was behind his ‘tagging’ of his post of him getting a haircut.

The translation of what Cellino Jnr has said is: “Obviously my parents are [the reason] of ashtag joking, [it] was not my intention to offend anyone . Look I can be anything but anti-Semitic and racist.”

The manner of his ‘apology’ hasn’t met with full acceptance, with BBC Radio Leeds reporter, and Leeds United match summariser, Adam Pope saying as much in the following Tweet.

Unfortunately for Leeds United fans, this kind of link to the club is becoming more de rigueur as every day passes.
