Ronnie Dix made his Bristol Rovers debut at the wee age of 15 years and 161 days and less than three weeks later scored his first senior goal against Norwich in a 3-0 win on March 3 1928. That goal, with Dix being only 15 years 180 days old, still marks out Dix as the youngest ever scorer in Football League history.

Dix made a century of appearances for Bristol Rovers, scoring 33 times before moving on to Blackburn Rovers for the 1932/33 season, then Aston Villa where he played between 1933-1937 – making 97 appearances and scoring 33 goals. A further move saw him play 94 times for Derby County, scoring 35 goals before the outbreak of World War Two.

Dix was on the books at Tottenham bewteen 1939-1947, but guested for other clubs during the conflict such as Liverpool, Bradford Park Avenue and Rovers’ cross-city rivals Bristol City. After leaving a war-interrupted time at Spurs in 1947, Dix played a further two years at Reading before retiring in 1949.

Next in line is a young striker who only scraped past his 15th birthday before starting as a Ram.
