James Wilson (Brighton & Hove Albion, on loan from Manchester United)

There was a decent amount of surprise when Louis van Gaal decided not to recall James Wilson during the time when Man Utd were struggling for fit centre forwards. The Dutchman elected to call upon some untried youngsters instead, but most fans felt that Wilson deserved to return. Nevertheless, the decision not to recall was very much to the benefit of Brighton and Chris Hughton. Although this is a ‘Super Sub’ category, Wilson has started nine league games, but has also appeared as a sub on 12 occasions.

He has scored four league goals for the Seagulls at the time of writing, but it is the whole package which he can supply as a substitute. We all know he is someone that possess plenty of energy, both on and off the ball. We touched upon how the stronger squads tend to have the better benches, which is obvious, and Wilson is very much a strong player in that regard.

The 20-year-old has the ability to change a game. He is very much a penalty box player that comes alive in such situations. If a game isn’t going to plan, and the likes of Hemed are perhaps below their best on the day, there is nobody better than Wilson to come on and provide a helping hand. Wilson is direct and never gives up any seemingly lost causes.
