Consistency key for this Leeds United player

Dismissed by some fans as lazy and disinterested, Souleymane Doukara’s recent form is giving Leeds fans something to talk about.

Many were content to pick at his deficiencies rather than pointing out his positives such as pace and power. However, after a strong display in the away game against Wolves, a 3-2 win for the Whites in December, Doukara has gone from strength-to-strength.

As Leeds United fans begin to warm to the five-goal striker, ex-Leeds striker Andy Ritchie says that there is just one thing missing from Doukara’s game – consistency.

In an opinion piece in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Ritchie said, “He has got all the raw essentials really such as pace and power – but he just needs to perform on a more consistent basis now for me.”

Building on this point, Ritchie admits that whilst some of Doukara’s performances have been eye-catching, there is a certain degree of consistency missing from Douks’ all-round game. As Ritchie says, “He’s still not been consistent enough over a run of games for me,” before going on to say that the powerfully-built forward needs to grasp the opportunity with Chris Wood’s injury absence.

Doukara will hope to benefit from the unfortunate absence of New Zealander Wood, sidelined due to a hamstring injury, and continue to improve with Ritchie himself saying that “the signs are encouraging in that respect.”

Whilst Wood is out, it is up to Souleymane Doukara to gain the consistency that Andy Ritchie says is missing from his game and give head coach Steve Evans a selection nightmare when Leeds’ leading scorer is fit again.
