Heaton Backs Burnley For Promotion

Burnley captain Tom Heaton has insisted the club know what it takes to reach the Premier League as the Battle for promotion reaches fever pitch.

With 16 matches to go the Clarets have hit form moving to just two points from the top of the table in an unbeaten run which has seen victories over rivals Hull City and Derby County.

With Burnley flying some of their rivals are faltering with Middlesbrough winless in four and Derby managerless and seven games without three points.

Sean Dyche’s men won promotion behind Leicester City in 2014 and Heaton believes that positive experience could help the Lancashire side in the run-in.

He said; “We think so. Without looking too much at anyone else the majority of our squad has got that experience and there’s a lot to say for that.

“We’ve only really tasted success. We know what is required, we know what it takes.”

Nine of the squad members in that Burnley promotion winning team are still at the club with Heaton, Michael Duff, Ashley Barnes, Dean Marney, Scott Arfield, David Jones, Michael Kightly and Sam Vokes all in the first team.

Despite long term injuries to Marney and Barnes, it could well be a first time lucky return for the Clarets.
