Leeds United midfielder dismisses ‘dramatic’ exit talk

Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook has dismissed talk of a ‘dramatic’ move away from the club today, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Cook has been linked with several Premier League clubs during the transfer window, with multi-million fees being quoted.  However Cook has dismissed talk of leaving the Championship club.

Cook said: “I’m 18 and playing most games. It’s great for me developing and I feel like I’m learning a lot. Hopefully I can push on my game a little bit further.

“Some people make that choice (to move to the Premier League at a young age) and it doesn’t always work out for them. At the moment I feel like I’m enjoying my football. Leeds are a big club as it is. I love playing for Leeds at the moment.”

Bournemouth are believed to have come closest to signing Cook, but the Premier League side did not meet Leeds’ valuation of Cook and decided against pursuing their interest any further.

At 18, Cook has a lot of potential and could turn out to be a very important player for Leeds United in the future.  Cook’s current deal expires at the end of next season but the club will no doubt be wanting to sign the midfielder on a long-term deal as soon as possible.
