Midfielder swaps Leeds for Italy

Italian second-tier side Ascoli Picchio have announced the signing of midfielder Tommaso Bianchi from Championship side Leeds United. He joins on loan until the end of the season, with the view to it being made permanent in the summer. He has been training with his new teammates this morning.

Bianchi returns to a league which he is most familiar with and has spent the vast majority of his career at this level. During his time at Piacenza, Sassuolo and Modena, he has featured in Serie B. He could make his debut this weekend away to play-off contenders Cesena, with Ascoli only two points above the relegation zone, although they have won three of their last four league games.

The last time he pulled on the White of Leeds United was in the 2-0 away victory at Reading in February 2015. The last time he completed a full 90 minutes for the club was in December 2014, starring in the 1-1 draw away to Nottingham Forest. The move has yet to be formally announced by Leeds, but Ascoli have swooped in to reveal the news.
