Fulham striker set for Monaco pre-contract agreement

Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting via his own personal website that Fulham striker Moussa Dembele is closing in on a move to French club AS Monaco. It is expected to be a deal which would see the young forward move to 2003/04 Champions League runners-up at the end of the season.

The French-born 19-year-old, who was on the books of Paris St-Germain prior to joining Fulham in August 2012, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the course of the season. Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur were said to be in the running, but they appear to now be focusing their attentions elsewhere. Italian giants Juventus were also linked with a move, as were German powerhouses Bayern Munich earlier this season.

The player is out of contract at Craven Cottage in June and now looks set to pen a pre-contract agreement with Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco side. They currently sit in second place in the French top flight league, although PSG have effectively wrapped up the league title at this very early stage. Nevertheless, they look set to at least reach European competition again next season.

With Ross McCormack hoping to seal a move away from Fulham himself, and Bristol City hoping to sign Matt Smith, Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic will at least be glad to be keeping ahold of Dembele for the rest of the season. In an ideal world he would want him long-term, but given the amount of elite interest in him, it was always going to be difficult to keep him beyond this season.
