Edinburgh says Dack is happy to stay

Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh has told the BBC that midfielder Bradley Dack is happy to remain at the club. The club have recently rejected three bids from Bristol City for the player, with the Bristol Post reporting one bid was in the region of £1million.

The 22-year-old has been an impressive performer for Gillingham for a few seasons now and so far this season has found the net on 13 occasions. He remains under contract at Priestfield under 2018, and Edinburgh will be hoping he can help fire the club back into the Championship for the first time 2005.

Former Tottenham Hotspur left back and ex-Newport County manager Edinburgh insists that he has had conversations with Dack, who assured him that he is keen on remaining with the Kent-based club,

“I spoke to Bradley and he made it quite clear that he didn’t feel that Bristol was the right move for him at this present time, which I was delighted with.

He just wants to have success here with Gillingham right now.”

Despite receiving a six-figure offer from Bristol City, who won the League One title last season, Edinburgh certainly feels as though his star player is worth a lot more than the sum they were offered,

“Our valuation is a long way off that.

With 13 goals and 12 assists, I don’t think there is a more valuable player in the league.”

Bristol City acted quickly in their set-back to signing Dack from the League One club by signing Ben Gladwin on loan from Queens Park Rangers. He is another player who has proven quality at League One from his time with Swindon Town.
