Minstermen sign young Burnley hot shot

Relegation threatened League 2 club York City have signed young Burnley striker Ntumba Massanka on a loan deal, according to The Lancashire Telegraph.

The 19 year old striker joins the struggling Minstermen on a loan deal until the end of the season and joins fellow Burnley loanee Luke Hendrie at Bootham Crescent.

The youngster came through the youth team set up at Turf Moor and penned a 12 month senior deal with The Clarets at the end of his scholarship. The striker has been a regular in the club’s Under 21 side netting 16 goals in 14 appearances so far this season.

Burnley Under 21s Manager Michael Jolley has tipped Massanka to go on and achieve bigger things with the club’s first team squad in the near future.

Massanka is yet to make his senior debut and his spell at York City will be his first move away from parent club Burnley. The striker is known for his pace and worth ethic and is very much a team player.

Massanka’s temporary move to North Yorkshire has come as something of a surprise with Championship club Burnley currently short of forwards with a number of injuries to key players and star man Andre Gray currently attracting plenty of January transfer interest.

The young striker could make his York City debut in the match against Newport County at Bootham Crescent on Saturday.
