Hull send scout to watch in-form Scottish starlet

Hull City are rumoured to be tracking Dundee United midfielder Blair Spittal. The Courier understands that the Tigers are interested in bringing the in-form youngster south of the border. The club have sent a scout to watch him in recent matches.

The 20-year-old has impressed in what has been a dreadful season for the Tangerines so far. He has recently been playing in an unfamiliar wing-back position, demonstrating his versatility. He has hit heavy heights in recent times thanks to two stunning free-kicks scored in the games against Airdrieonians and local rivals Dundee.

The player still has 18-months remaining on his current deal, but unless Mixu Paatelainen’s men can propel themselves out of trouble then they risked losing a key player. He signed his new deal in 2014, but dropping into the Scottish Championship considering the interest in him from England probably isn’t something he would entertain.

Former Dundee United player Andrew Robertson plays his football in East Yorkshire, and should Spittal also move to the KC Stadium then the pair would’ve enjoyed an almost identical career pathway. If he continues to impress the watching on scouts then surely a move isn’t far away. Whilst Dundee United won’t want to lose him, it wouldn’t be the first time that they have had to sell one of their better players after bigger clubs have shown an interest.
