Hull City open contract talks with midfield pair

Hull City Manager Steve Bruce has opened initial contract discussions with key midfield duo Tom Huddlestone and David Meyler in an attempt to keep both players at The KC Stadium.

The Tigers have won just two of their last six Championship matches and face a fight to keep their automatic promotion push on track. Both players have key roles to play in the club’s immediate future on the pitch.

Tom Huddlestone joined Hull City from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee believed to be in the region of £5.25 million in August 2013 and has become a dependable figure in the City team making 93 appearances for the club scoring five goals.

The defensive midfielder is rumoured to be on the radar of rival Championship clubs with QPR one of the clubs showing an interest.

Fellow midfielder David Meyler signed for City in January 2013 for an undisclosed fee from Sunderland and is out of contract at the end of the season. The 26 year old has been a key figure in The Tigers’ promotion push this season making 19 appearances for the club and scoring three goals.

January is expected to be a key month for Hull City Manager Steve Bruce with the club looking to add further quality to the squad in a bid to build on their solid start to the season which sees the club sat in 4th position in the table.
