Fulham, Fulham target Coventry boss

Fulham target Coventry boss

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has emerged as a prime target for Fulham, according to the Coventry Telegraph.

The Cottagers are hunting for a new boss since sacking Kit Symons five weeks ago and are thought to be impressed with Mowbray, who has turned Coventry from relegation fighters to one of the favourites for promotion since becoming boss.

He has also done this on a relatively small budget, which is likely to appeal to Fulham.

However, 52 year old Mowbray signed a new deal at The Sky Blues in the Summer and insisted on Sunday that their has been no approach for his services from The Championship side.

It would likely be a difficult decision for Mowbray if Fulham were to approach him, as he seems committed to the cause at Coventry and has a strong side who appear capable of promotion to the second tier.

However, Fulham are a wealthy club with ambitions to get back into the top flight, which could make them an attractive proposition for Mowbray, as they may offer him an opportunity to manage in the Premier League sooner than he’d be able to at Coventry.

The news of Fulham’s interest in Mowbray is likely to be of great concern to Coventry fans and players alike, who seem convinced that he is the right man to take them back up the English football pyramid.

Coventry have excelled this season under Mowbray and despite their loss at Sheffield United on Sunday, lie in second place in League One, after 21 matches.
