On-loan Paterson hoping to improve on current form

Winger Jamie Paterson has admitted on Huddersfield Town’s official club website that his current form on-loan at the Terriers has not been good enough.

23-year-old Paterson had played just one Championship game for his parent club Nottingham Forest this season when he was loaned out to Huddersfield on a season-long loan. However, the former Walsall attacker has had an up and down start to life in Yorkshire and has admitted that the move from Forest has not yet reached the point of which he had envisaged.

He stated; “To be fair, I have been here for three months now and I haven’t really got going yet. I didn’t start the first few games, then I had a little run and scored a couple of goals only to do my hamstring.”

Paterson has scored two goals in eight games in his time at Huddersfield so far but he missed most of November with injury. However, he made a return to action against Middlesbrough last weekend and conceded he is still getting back to full fitness.

“I felt good for the first hour against Middlesbrough and then started to get a little bit tired, but I’m getting my fitness back,” he said. ” I was a little bit nervous on my full home debut as well, but in the end I really enjoyed it.”

As for Paterson’s future back at the City Ground, his current deal with Huddersfield includes an option to buy and much will depend on where they finish at the end of the season. If Forest are going to take him back however, he will be hoping he can remain fit and firing for the rest of the season with Huddersfield.
