Wolves could lose star man to Premier League for £15 million

Wolverhampton Wanderers could sell their star man Benik Afobe to a Premier League club in January, with rumors that Newcastle United are set to bid £15 million for the striker.

Afobe’s good form since joining Wolves for £2 million in January has led to lots of interest from Premier League clubs, especially in the summer transfer window.  Norwich City had a series of bids for Afobe rejected, the highest of which was understood to be around £10 million.

At the time, Wolves issued a statement saying “Neither Benik nor any of Wolves’ first team forward players will be sold this season.”

However the club may be tempted to cash in on Afobe in January.  It is believed that Norwich City are lining up a fourth offer and Aston Villa are also very keen.  These clubs will both have to fend off competition from Newcastle United, who could be set to bid £15 million.

Wolves will not want to lose Afobe but the offer of immediate Premier League football may turn the player’s head.

On the other hand, Newcastle United and Aston Villa both currently sit in the Premier League’s relegation places, bringing in the question of whether these clubs will be able to offer top tier football for much longer.
