Trotter’s loan move from Bolton to Forest falls through

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has confirmed to the BBC that Liam Trotter will not be joining the club on loan from Bolton Wanderers. A ‘technical issue’ means that the deal has fallen through and the midfield will remain at the Macron Stadium.

27-year-old Trotter looked as though he would be penning a temporary move to the City Ground last week. However the move was delayed for unknown reasons. It was hoped he’d be available for Friday’s game at Bristol City and last night’s home clash with Burnley. Yet Trotter wasn’t available for either, and Freedman has confirmed that no transfer will take place,

“We cannot get a deal over the line so it’s dead.

It’s a technical issue once again. It’s very similar to Ben Hamer.”

Earlier this season, the red side of Nottingham club tried to bring goalkeeper Hamer on loan from Leicester City, only for that to fall through as well. Freedman didn’t provide specifics on why these deals never materialised, but also revealed he is unsure if any future loan signings can be arranged,

“I am here to identify players I would like to sign. Hopefully we can sign them. If we don’t, I can’t get involved too much in what happens behind the scenes.

I would like to think we can bring somebody else in but it needs to be a little bit clearer before we can. Before I start making phone calls we need to make sure we can.”

Conceding in the last minute at home to Burnley last night means it is now five games without a victory for Freedman’s team. On Saturday they entertain Ipswich Town, hoping to end their poor run of form.
