Everton tracking Burnley defender

Premier League side Everton are tracking Burnley defender Michael Keane, according to a report by The Sun.

It is believed that Everton boss Roberto Martinez has asked his scouts to keep an eye on Keane in preparation for the club needing to sign a centre back in January.

Everton are braced for more bids from Chelsea for England central defender John Stones in January.  Despite a reluctance to sell, Martinez in understood to be preparing for a replacement if Chelsea make an offer that the club can’t turn down.

Keane struggled to establish himself in the Burnley team last season but has particularly stood out this season in the Championship.  Keane has cemented his place in the team’s back line as they look to bounce back to the Premier League straight away.

This has led to rumors of the defender being valued at around £10 million by the Lancashire club, in order to deter clubs from trying to tempt Keane away.

However if John Stones is sold by Everton, the club will have the money and the need for a central defender, so Keane could be playing back in the Premier League sooner than he anticipated.
