Preston vs Wolves Match Preview

Preston take on Wolves at Deepdale tomorrow in the Championship.

Both teams will be desperate for the three points, as they both find themselves lingering at the wrong end of the table. PNE find themselves in the bottom three and come into this game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Brentford, while Wolves are currently sat in 18th and haven’t won in two games.

Team Information

Preston are still likely to be without Jermaine Beckford, who could be on the sidelines for several months. Paul Gallagher might also still be out injured with a groin strain.

As for Wolves, they’ll be without Nouha Dicko, who has also suffered an injury and could be out of action for several months.

Key Facts

Preston haven’t won in their last six games.

Wolves have won three of their last six games against the Lilywhites, with PNE winning two of those six and one draw.

In the last six games between the two sides, there have been two red cards. The two red cards were for two Wolves players in one game back in 2008. Wolves won that game 3-1.

There have been 14 goals scored in total in the last six games between the two sides. That’s an average of just over two goals per game.

Key Players

Stevie May – PNE

Stevie May is still searching for his first goal as a PNE player and he’ll be raring to finally get his name on the scoresheet tomorrow if he starts for the Lilywhites.

Despite not scoring, he has proven to be a valuable addition to the Preston squad so far. He runs throughout games both with the ball and when trying to get it back and he has a decent pass success rate too (80%).

If he works hard and keeps getting into goalscoring positions and receiving the ball, then the goal that he craves will soon arrive.

Benik Afobe – Wolves

Afobe is Wolves current top goalscorer and the fans will be hoping he continues to hit the back of the net against PNE at Deepdale on Saturday.

He’s scored three goals so far this season and with Dicko out injured, the club are relying on him (and Adam le Fondre) to provide the attacking flair and goalscoring prowess needed to see Wolves get some points on the board and go further up the table.

He’s certain to be a danger to the Preston defence during the game between the two sides and if he manages to get the ball in a dangerous area, he is more than capable of punishing the Lilywhites.

Score Prediction

Preston 2-2 Wolves

I think there will be a number of goals in this game but I don’t see a clear winner. In the end, I believe both sides will end up sharing the points.
