Derby to offer striker lucrative new deal

According to a report, Derby are set to offer striker Johnny Russell a lucrative new three-year deal.

The news comes following Russell’s great form for Derby so far this season.  Russell has played seven times for Derby this season, scoring on two occasions and also has two assists to his name.

It is understood that Russell’s wage will be increased to bring it closer to that of some of the summer signings, with Derby wanting to keep squad harmony at a high as they push for promotion.

Russell was one of the players who could have feared for his place in the team this season after boss Paul Clement made additions to the squad in summer.  However this has had the opposite effect on the player and Russell’s form has definitely improved.

Russell signed for Derby in 2013 from Dundee United for a fee of around £750,000.  He has gone on to make 88 appearances so far for the club, scoring 17 goals along the way.
