Ipswich Town striker Freddie Sears has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Tractor Boys, keeping him at Portman Road until 2019, plus the option of an extra year.
The former West Ham United starlet joined Ipswich from Colchester United in January for a fee in the region of £100,000, and has since gone on to be something of a revelation.
Sears scores nine goals in 23 games last season and has kicked off the 2015/16 campaign in equally impressive form—notching up Town’s first in their 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The 25-year-old has formed a dynamic, little-and-large partnership with Daryl Murphy up front for the Blues, keeping the talented likes of Brett Pitman and David McGoldrick on the bench in the process.
Sears will line up for Town in Tuesday night’s clash with Burnley, where he’ll be looking to celebrate his new deal with a goal.
And based on the forward’s form of late, you’d be a brave man to bet against him doing exactly that.
