What’s on TV: this weekends three live games

Brighton vs Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest travel to Brighton & Hove Albion for the first match of the 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship season.

Both teams had indifferent seasons last year finishing 20th and 14th respectively however both have also been busy in the transfer market over the last 3 months.

Albion have invested in 4 new forwards including ex-QPR striker Bobby Zamora who left the Rs following relegation last season.

Forest managed to keep both of their leading goal scorers from last year and boosted their defense with the signings of Matt Mills and Daniel Pillinos from Bolton and Spanish club Cordoba.

Brighton will be looking to change their fortunes against Forrest, the Seagulls have only won 7 games against the red and white army in 24 meetings with 4 of those victories coming at home.

Leeds vs Burnley

The second of two lunch time kick offs on Saturday is between Leeds United and Burnley.

History tells us that Leeds have the upper hand in this contest as they have won 29 out of the 56 matches played between the sides.

However Burnley, who are coming back to the Sky Bet Championship after a year n the top flight, have managed to hold on to the bulk of their premiere league side with the exception of their leading goal scorer Danny Ings.

Leeds on the other hand have managed to hold onto their main man in front of goal, Mirco Antenucci, and have also purchased Chris Wood from Premiere League side Leicester City as they hope to improve on the 15th place they managed last season.

The match at Ellen Road will be interesting, especially as Leeds have won over 60% of the meetings between the sides on their home turf.

Preston vs Boro

Middlesbrough are Travelling to Preston North End to close out the opening weekend of the season.

The Lilly Whites face a tough opponent in last year’s playoff finalists in their first game back in the Championship since 2011 however they have boosted their fire power in front of goal with the signing of Jermaine Beckford to accompany Joe Garner.

Boro on the other hand swooped a premiere league star over the summer.

Stewart Downing will be returning to the Riverside for the 2015/16 campaign after signing for his home town club for £5.5 million.

Out of the 57 meetings between the two sides, Middlesbrough have won 25. However over 75% of Preston’s victories against Boro have come at home.
