Blackburn Rovers have today completed the signing of former Reading midfielder Danny Guthrie, reports the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old signs on a two year deal after being released by the Royals at the end of last season: becoming Rovers’ third summer signing.
Speaking to the website, Guthrie expressed his delight at the move.
“It’s been a long summer, but I’m delighted to get it done and be ready and available for the first game,” he said.
“The gaffer made it quite clear that he really wanted me to join the club and felt strongly about what I could bring to the side. Every player wants to hear that from their manager and know that they’re going to be potentially an important part of the squad.
Guthrie joined Reading when they were a newly promoted Premier League side, and went on to make 69 appearances and score five goals.
But the midfielder fell out of favour at the Madjeski and spent the end of last season on loan at Fulham.
However, after impressing against Bury and Wigan Athletic during a trial at the club, Danny has found a new club in the form of Blackburn Rovers.
