The MK Dons have today announced the signing of 22 year-old Spaniard Sergio Aguza on a two-year deal from European giants Real Madrid with the transfer subject to international clearance.
Aguza arrives at stadiummk as the second player to join from the Bernabeu following the arrival of Cristian Benavente earlier in the month.
The midfielder started his career with Spanish lower league side Cornella before being snapped up by Real Madrid at the age of 16.
After making his debut for Real Madrid’s C team in 2011, Aguza quickly progressed into their B team (named Castilla) and has spent the last two seasons playing under the management of legendary midfielder Zinedine Zidane.
Aguza has made 46 appearances for Castilla since his first appearance in 2013 and has netted seven goals during that time, earning him the captaincy.
Speaking to the clubs official website, boss Karl Robinson spoke about his latest signing:
““I’ve seen Sergio play a number of times and he’s an exceptionally talented player. He’s very dynamic in his movements and his ball retention as well.
“He was captain of Real Madrid Castilla so he’ll bring tremendous strength to us. He’s someone who will really add to the group and he might be able to give us something we’ve never had before.”
He continued: “Obviously he and Cristian (Benavente) will be a few months behind, having to integrate into a new culture and language. It’s good, though, that Sergio has someone like Cristian alongside him to help him move forward.”
