Leeds United: is there still bite in Barker rumour?

It is safe to say that Leeds United fans are desperate for a winger, at any cost a wide man with pace through the door to Leeds United. At the moment Leeds’ head coach, Uwe Rösler, is ‘making do’ with what he already has in the in the squad and merely shuffling players into positions that they might be able to ‘do a job’.

Wingers have been mentioned and rumoured to be coming through the doors at Leeds United, but like the rumours that they are they lack substance. One of the more prominent rumours to surface concerned the loan of highly-rated Manchester City academy player Brandon Barker, a left winger with tricky feet; tricky feet like he showed in Manchester City’s last match, a 5-4 win on penalties against Roma after the game ended 2-2 after 90 minutes.

With Barker rising in prominence and putting in performances that make him stand out against excellent teams, there are some who are saying that a first team squad place the The Etihad isn’t far off. Reports are surfacingsaying that Leeds United have been told they will have to wait until Manchester City have reviewed all their options regarding Barker. With interest mounting in Barker as his stock and performances rise, it looks like Leeds United will more than likely have to get in line and wait – likely pray should they still be interested in acquiring the young Mancester City starlet’s services on loan for the coming season.
