Leeds striker ‘dreams’ of Sheffield United says Adkins

Sheffield United boss Nigel Adkins has said that Leeds United striker Billy Sharp ‘dreams’ of Sheffield United, as The Blades are closing in on a deal for the 29-year-old.

This summer has brought much speculation about the Bramall Lane club wanting to bring Sharp back for a third spell, and with the addition of Chris Wood, Leeds’ ‘super sub’ from last season is set to further fall down the pecking order.

As highlighted by the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Adkins told BBC Radio Sheffield that “Billy is a player that I’ve had at Scunthorpe United and sold to Sheffield United.

“He’s a player that I signed for Southampton. He’s a player that I took on loan for Reading, so its clear to see that I like Billy’s capabilities.

“You know the character of Billy as well, and he’s a Sheffield boy.

“He dreams about once again wanting to play for Sheffield United Football Club, but he’s a Leeds United player and what we’ve got to do is let him concentrate on keeping fit and doing the right things by Leeds United Football Club.”
