Whilst lightning might never strike the same place twice, it seems that Blackpool fans can. Another game, different opponents but a similar pitch invasion to the one at Bloomfield Road against Huddersfield Town has brought the same result, the abandonment of the game.
Leading 3-1 against non-league neighbours Lancaster City, a small number of Blackpool fans invaded the pitch on 75 minutes and brought about the abandonment of the game, a decision made by the match referee.

The protest, the latest in a series by Tangerines fans against the owners, the Oyston family, and the way the club is being run, is sure to catch the eye of not only media outlets but also the footballing authorities, especially as it comes in the wake of the abandonment of Blackpool’s last home fixture of a troubled season against Huddersfield Town. The Tangerines chairman, Karl Oyston, not only has a troubled relationship with the fans, but he is also banned from all footballing activity for six weeks and subject to a £40,000 fine for abusing a Blackpool supporter via text message, referring to the fan, Stephen Smith, as a “retard” . In order to rid themselves of what they consider as Oyston’s insidious presence at the club, Blackpool fans have formed the Blackpool Supporters’ Trust with the intention of raising the significant sum of £16m to buy back the club from the Oyston family who have been in charge at Bloomfield Road since 1987.
