Former Leeds United fan favourite signs for Argentinian side

Norwich City’s released striker Luciano Becchio has been snapped up by Argentinean Primera Division side Club Atletico Belgrano after his departure from Carrow Road last month.

The 31 year-old striker struggled during his two year spell with the Canaries and struggled to recapture the impressive goal scoring form which made the East Anglian side sign the Argentinean on a three-and-a-half year contract.

Starting his career with Primera Division giants Boca Juniors, Becchio played for several different clubs in Spain including Mallorca B, Terrassa and Barcelona B before finding impressive goal scoring form with lower league side Merida.

28 goals in 50 games during a two-year spell with the Spanish outfit led to a move to Leeds where he enjoyed the most prolific years of his career.

Scoring 17 or more goals in four of his five seasons at Elland Road endeared the striker to the fans and his goals in the 2009-10 season helped propel the Whites to promotion to the Championship.
