Still no signings in sight at Elland Road but that does not stop more rumoured signings being wedged into the now stuffed full Leeds United Transfer Tombola™ which surely must be attracting the attention of the Health and Safety Executive. The latest ‘target’, according to a report from Sport Witness, concerns a young, 19-year old French-Ivorian called Sehrou Guirassy who quote French newspaper Ouest France report is “très convoité (Leeds tiendrait la corde)” or in English “very coveted (Leeds hold the advantage/inside track”).
Guirassy plays for Stade Laval who currently ply their trade in France’s Ligue 2 competition and has appeared 29 times for the French team this season, contributing six goals in total in his 1,409 minutes of action, a return of a goal every 235 minutes of game time. This return indicates the potential for between 17-18 goals over a full Championship season and, as seasoned Leeds United fans know very well, goals were at a premium down Elland Road way last season. Not only does the young Frenchman score in the second tier of the French domestic leagues but he is also a current French U19 international, playing four games during the last 2014/15 season and scoring four goals. In the qualifying phase for the UEFA U19 Euro qualifiers Guirassy played 62 minutes in France’s 2-0 win over Azerbaijan U19, a full 90 minutes in France’s 2-0 victory over Denmark U19 (where he scored two goals) and 84 minutes in France’s 2-1 victory against England U19 (where he scored one goal).
It is said by Sport Witness that Serge Guirassy’s chances could very well be limited by the return of seasoned veteran forward Julien Viale, with the 33-year old returning from a two-year stint with French cup finalists Auxerre and rumoured to be Stade Laval’s preferred option up front.
