#RETAINED – Brighton bid farewell to five players

N.B: Brighton’s retained list was released on the 24 April but other commitments have postponed the publishing of this article

Chris Hughton has now finalised his Brighton retained list.

Vice-captain Inigo Calderon and goalkeeper Casper Ankergren have both signed new one-year deals at the club, with the former having played a key role during the club’s 2014/15 season.

Here is what Hughton had to say about tying the two down to new deals:

“Calde has played a lot of games this season and performed well for me. I have asked him to play out of position and do a particular job for the team and he has done that extremely well. He is also an important part of the dressing room.

“Equally with Casper, while he hasn’t played in the first team since I came here, it is vital for us to have three goalkeepers we can rely on – and we know Casper fits that bill. He is a very good and experienced professional and knows the role well. “

Apart from those two, no other player at the club has been offered a new deal, so it’s time to take a look at who will be leaving the club.
