#RETAINED – David’s time is Dunn

Blackburn Rovers are the latest side to release their retained list.

With it comes the announcement of two players being released that have been at the club for several years now – one of them being David Dunn, who has had two stints at Ewood Park, one for 8 years and one for 5 (13 years in total.)

The midfielder has played 180 games for the club and scored 20 but the club now believe it is time to let him go.

The other is Paul Robinson, who also leaves after spending a lot of his career at Blackburn (7 years of it to be exact). He has amassed 202 appearances in that time and he even captured Rovers’ Player of the Year award in 2011.

They are the two most notable departures from the club – nine more players will be released at the end of their contracts.

Luke Varney and Chris Taylor are also allowed to speak to other clubs when their contract expires – Varney has spent this season on loan at Ipswich Town and Chris Taylor has racked up 50 appearances in two years for the Blue and Whites.

However, boss Gary Bowyer has indicated he would like Taylor to sign a new deal at the club.
