Brian Montenegro
Ah, the wonderfully-named Brian Guillermo Montenegro Martínez; darling of the Leeds United U21 Development squad and every shirt printer’s nightmare. There’s not much that can really be discerned from his time playing in the first XI, where he has only made five appearances totalling 21 minutes of game time. However, it is in the Development Squad (posh term for reserve team really) where Brian Montenegro has made his mark. He stands out head-and-shoulders above a lot of the players in the team and was the leading scorer this season with 12 goals, five goals more than his nearest U21 rival. On this goalscoring promise alone, he is definitely a player that Leeds United should be looking to retain; especially as his tally was higher than any first team player.
