Freedman ruthless following frustrating loss

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has come out and said how a large overhaul of his current crop of players is going to be the course of action in the summer.

Slipping to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of lowly Huddersfield wasn’t the main problem for Freedman on Saturday afternoon – it was the manner of the defeat. Lacking decisiveness in front of goal, and a seeming lack of effort from certain players has led the ex-Bolton manager to speak, very openly, about his current squad:

“I need to make sure certain personnel are not here and that others are playing every week to help make sure the club moves forward. I have decided who I do not want here and I have spoken to a few players privately about that.”

“I will be speaking to another three or four as well, to tell them that if they cannot live up to expectations, then there will be no point in them being here.”

Not wanting to name any specific players who he has intentions of letting go, Freedman said how the players have been made aware that they should ‘go and sort themselves out; go and find another club’.

Amidst all the doom and gloom – there were a few positives to take away from the weekend’s game for Forest fans. Michail Antonio and Henri Lansbury have been bright sparks in a mid-table season for club, and the manager was full of praise for them;

“Antonio has been fanastic for us. He has been fantastic. He and Henri [Lansbury] since I have been here have been the players of the season. I am not going to criticise them, but they need a rest and somebody else needs to step up to the plate.”
