Buckle Succumbs To Cheltenham Axe

43-year-old Buckle took over in November but his short reign has yielded just one win and he leaves the club in 22nd place, one point off the relegation zone. Buckle had found himself “under scrutiny” from the Cheltenham board, earlier this week, as reported by The72, after rumours surfaced that he was close to the sack.

With the Robins so close to relegation and having one of the worst form records in the league, the board have decided to try and rescue the season and keep the club in League Two. Buckle’s assistant Rob Edwards has also left by mutual consent and Town earlier released this statement on their website:

Head of Academy Russell Milton and former player Steve Elliot will take caretaker charge until a new manager is appointed.
