Timlin hoping to be fit by end of October

Southend United midfielder Michael Timlin hopes to be back playing again by mid to late October, the Southend Echo writes.

The 29 year old has been out injured since Southend played a pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur on the 16th July, where he suffered a dislocated elbow.

Timlin has had to contend with long term injuries before. Towards the end of the 2012-13 season, Timlin suffered a broken leg during a match against rivals Leyton Orient. He recovered fully though, to then play 43 times in all competitions during the 2013-14 season, scoring 3 times.

This season, Southend started strongly with back to back clean sheet wins over Accrington Stanley and Stevenage, but have now gone 5 games without a win in all competitions. They have missed the emphasis of a player like Timlin in the centre of midfield, who will hassle players and get stuck into them.

With tough games coming up within the next month, against the likes of Portsmouth, Cheltenham Town and Shrewsbury Town, the Blues will be desperate for Timlin to be back sooner rather than later.
