With only three home wins, it was a night for upsets in the Championship on Tuesday. Leeds and Reading were poor, losing 2-0 and 2-1 to Brighton and Huddersfield respectively, whilst Bournemouth’s and Rotherham’s strong performances were in vein as they lost 2-1 and 2-0 respectively.
There was no doubt bad and ugly, but we take a look at some of the good from this week’s matches:
Berra stole a point and the limelight at St Andrews on Tuesday with two headed goals for Ipswich against Birmingham. The centre-back may not be the first man on your first goalscorer bet but managed five goals from defence for Mick McCarthy’s men last year. The first this time around, a slight flick from a set piece will have undoubtably angered Blues manager Lee Clark whilst the second came 4 minutes into second half stoppage time when he powered home another header from 6 yards out. It was a solid display from the former Wolves man whose performance at the back was as import an as at at the front, making the most tackles on the pitch (3).
