Collison training with Town

Recently released West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison, has been for the past week training with Championship side Ipswich Town. He previously had a trail at Queens Park Rangers, but manager Harry Redknapp decided against taking him on.

After a promising start to his West Ham career, injuries have plagued Collison, at one time he was out for 14 months. The 2008-09 season was his breakthrough season where he made 24 appearances scoring 3 times.

During last season he was twice sent out on loan to Championship clubs, Bournemouth and Wigan Athletic. He was on loan at Bournemouth for 1 month where he made 4 appearances and then towards the end of the season he made 10 appearances for Wigan, including the FA Cup semi-final loss to Arsenal. Collison did appear 13 times for the Hammers last season, but he never really established himself under Allardyce, thus leading to his release.

Collison can be described as a being an all-round midfielder who can play in the middle or out wide, and would strengthen an Ipswich midfield that already contains Luke Hyam and Cole Skuse.
