Reading suffer injury blow

Reading winger Hal Robson-Kanu is set to miss the start of the Championship season after picking up an injury in last night’s friendly against Stevenage.

Robson-Kanu injured his knee after a heavy challenge from Charlie Lee during the first half.

The wide-man is set to have scans on the injury today to determine the extent of the damage. The Royals have already ruled him out of the season opener against Wigan on August 9.

Manager Nigel Adkins spoke to the Reading Chronicle after the game:

“We have lost Hal for the start of the season and that’s something we could have done without.

“It’s a knee injury, we’ll have a better look when we do a thorough examination of him.

“It’s fair to say he will miss the start of the season.

“We would have liked the referee to get a better grip of it in the first half, and unfortunately due to the competitive nature of the game, there were poor challenges going in.”
