5 Championship mangers who are already under pressure

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – Cardiff City

Cardiff crashed and burned after finally reaching the Premier League finishing bottom of the pile after a miserable season. Malky Mackay was sacked by owner Vincent Tan who was less than impressed with his transfer policy. Despite this results on the pitch were reasonably good, Mackay led the Blue Birds to victories over Manchester City and fierce-rivals Swansea City and left the club in 16th place.

Former Manchester United forward Solskjaer took charge of the club on the 2nd of January. An illustrious name yes, but as a manager the Norwegian’s only experience in management came in his native country following a spell in charge of Molde. The jump was too much for him. He failed to save the club from tumbling back into the Championship and could only pick up 12 points in the process. He also masterminded what was, in my opinion, possibly the worst swap deal of all time. Peter Odemwingie for Kenwyne Jones.

Owner Vincent Tan has provided Solskjaer with the funds to get the club back to the Premier League. He’s used them well in my opinion too, bringing Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda to the Cardiff City Stadium amongst overs. Tan will not want the club to stick around in the Championship for long and picking up results early is imperative for Solskjaer for two key reasons. One to rid the losing mentality firmly out of the club’s system and two to keep Vincent Tann satisfied, a tough task indeed.
