Stevenage manager, Graham Westley has discussed his pre-season problems as his side lost 1-0 to Barnet on Tuesday.
Former Boro player, Charlie MacDonald scored the only goal of the match, on 30 minutes after a mistake from Jo N’Guessan.
Speaking to Boro Player, the 46 year old explained: “It was one of those games where you had to prioritise other things. Whelps (Whelpdale) has missed a week to 10 days of training so we just wanted to get some minutes into him as well
“So you’re playing lads who are struggling to be on top of their game but you put them through the minutes because it’s important.
“But then of course you suffer the result and you’re sort of regretting the fact you’ve had to go through that, but that’s the pre-season process.
“I think we achieved goals tonight but without achieving the result.”
The Hertfordshire club are also waiting for news on Ronnie Henry who limped off after 15 minutes after a heavy tackle.
