Middlesbrough lodge fresh bid for Clayton

Reports from the Gazette is that Middlesbrough are preparing a second bid for Huddersfield Town Player of the year Adam Clayton.

Earlier on in the week it was reported that a first bid in the region of £1m was rejected by Town.

The initial bid from Boro some believe was to test how highly Town rate Clayton as a straight up money offer rather than have a player included part exchange that some have rumoured.

The players in question that have been mentioned are midfielder Jacob Butterfield & striker Kei Kamara as Boro boss Aitor Karanka looks to freshen up his side.

Town are attempting  to draw the talented  25-year-old in, extending his stay as he only has 12 months remaining  on his current contract.

Former Manchester City man Clayton joined Town back in 2012 from Leeds United for a figure believed to be that of £350,000, from then on he has made 94 appearances for the club  scoring 12 goals.

Back in January the Terriers also rejected a offer from Brighton which was a similar figure to that of Boro’s  last offer. The box-to-box midfielder has been fast-improving over the last two seasons bagging himself the fans player of the year award.
