Rumour Mill: Wolves step up attempts to strengthen defence

Dean Moxey to Wolves

With plenty of Wolves stories doing the rounds today, the Birmingham Mail are reporting that Dean Moxey could be on his way to Molineux, as cover for first choice left-back Scott Golbourne. The 28-year-old was recently released from Premier League Crystal Palace and Kenny Jackett is reportedly interested in him as he looked to build for Wolves first season back in the Championship but he will face competition for his signature as it believed that Leeds United and Bolton are set to step of their interest in Moxey.

Other Wolves stories

The Birmingham Mail are also continuing stories concerning other potential signings for Wolves. Peterborough’s Tommy Rowe appears to be the subject of Wolves interest whilst Jackett also wants to add Leicester’s Chris Wood to his squad. The ‘Harry Maguire saga’ is set to rumble on – the Express & Star last night reported that Wolves have tabled an offer for the Sheffield United youngster, whilst sources close to the 21-year-old dismissed reports that Maguire is set to reject a move away from Bramall Lane. Sky Sports are reporting that Wolves defender Stephen Ward has not decided where he will be playing next season, despite reported interest from Brighton and Middlesbrough.

Luke Freeman to Watford

Sky Sports are also reporting that Watford are lining up a deal for Luke Freeman of Stevenage. Stevenage are preparing to lose the 22-year-old following the club’s relegation to League 2 and Watford have made an enquiry about the winger. Freeman was the subject of enquiries from Championship clubs in January but it appears as though Stevenage will not be able to fend off the same level of interest this time round.

League 1 interest for James Bailey

Crewe have emerged as the front-runners to re-sign James Bailey, according to reports from the Stoke Sentinel. Bailey, recently released from Derby County, was linked to a return to Gresty Road last season but his wages provided a stumbling block. Wages could provide an issue again this time round but Crewe are very keen on signing the 25-year-old who is also attracting interest from Sheffield United.
