Doncaster v Reading – Game of the weekend: both must win, both must not lose

Depending on Friday’s result this game could be a must win for Reading or a one that would see 3 points end several of their rivals hopes of making the top 6 on the final day. The home side still are in the relegation picture and with Leicester away on the final day know this game is massive.

1240431821Paul Dickov would of had sleepless nights this week. His Doncaster side have now failed to win in 6 and picked up just a single point in that time. Whilst everyone else has picked up points this has drawn the Vikings back into the relegation picture. It does not get any easier for Rovers with their final two games with Reading needing a win to boost their play-off bid and Leicester on the final day wanting to close out the season at the King Power in style. With just a 1 points cushion above the play-offs Rovers will need to pick up a victory somewhere to ensure their safety (even that may not be enough). Chris Brown has scored some big goals for Doncaster this season, with 9 in the campaign. He is this game’s key man.

When the pressure was on Reading they managed to get the job done. With everyone from Brighton down to Bournemouth cheering on Middlesbrough on Tuesday the Royals remained calmed and had far to much quality for Aitor Karanka’s side. This victory ended a 4 game winless run and was their first victory at the Madejski since January. A victory at the Keepmoat this weekend will leave just Brighton, Forest and Ipswich with a realistic chance of stealing 6th from them on the final day. The poor home form has not travelled with Nigel Adkins side as they have picked up over 30 points on the road. 3 more at Doncaster and attention will turn firmley to getting the job done at home to Burnley on the final day, which will be no easy task.

Score prediction: 2-0 Reading win
