Danny Murphy is the current favourite for the role at Prenton Park. As another local lad, From Chester, Murphy grew up as a Liverpool fan, before signing for his boyhood club in 1997. In 2001 Danny Murphy scored the opening goal in a 4-2 win in the FA Cup against Tranmere. After leaving Liverpool, Danny Murphy played for Charlton, Spurs, Fulham & Blackburn before retirement. Since retiring, Danny has appeared on Match of the Day several times and has commented that he has been studying for his coaching badges. As with Robbie Fowler, the hiring of inexperienced managers has proved beneficial for some clubs, so this could be an ideal appointment for Tranmere, and a perfect chance for Danny Murphy to prove himself as a manager.
