FA Cup winners in 1987, 34 years in the top tier of English football, a transfer record purchase of £6.5 Million and a transfer sale fee of £13 Million for Robbie Keane. Its hard to wonder how Coventry City are now languishing in mid-table of League One after such a brilliant record of honours.

With a few years in the Premier League, Coventry City enjoyed their spell in the big time with a host of talented players. Micky Quinn, Dion Dublin and  Robbie Keane to name a few.  They survived under Gordon Strachan’s leadership; a top quality manager with tactics of the finest calibre.

Strachan took Coventry comfortably through three seasons in the Premier League with confident mid-table finishes until the unfortunate relegation of the club in 2001. Since their Premier League relegation, Coventry have played at three different grounds, two of which were their own. Now they find themselves languishing in the third tier of English football playing at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium.
